The future is unwritten – afford global freedom of movement – get over capitalism
20 years ago, CDU/CSU and SPD resolved the asylum-compromise and with that the factual abolition of the right of asylum in Germany. This was a respond to the nationwide pogroms of Nazis and citizens which addressed to all asylum seekers during the revitalisation of ethnic community. One example for this might be Rostock-Liechtenhagen: For 4 days, Nazis rioted against asylum while local residents applauded and actively supported. Finally the Nazis set fire to the asylum – police did not intervene. Only coincidentally there were no dead people during this excess. An other example might be Solingen, where 5 people died and several got grievously injured during an arson attack on the house of family Genç in 1995. But instead of proceeding against racism in the so called middle/ mainstream of society a “spate of asylum seekers” got constructed as natural catastrophe in public discussion, which finally served as legitimation of the factual abolition of the right of asylum. In current discourse, not the German pack and its racism and nationalism but the asylum seekers were to be blamed for the pogroms and thus, they were intended to vanish. German inversion of committer and victim reloaded. Today, 20years later, nothing really improved. Europe’s borders are highly protected and thousands of asylum seekers lose their lives while trying to reach a better one. If they make it to Europe despite all haressments, they’ll get worn out by so called safe-third-country regulation , residential obligation , prohibition of labour , bureaucracy and police. Only in 1% of all cases, asylum requests get accepted as reasonable. In the best case, the majority expects a temporary suspension of deportation, in the worst case a life in illegality or deportation back in even bigger misery.

But it would be wrong to reduce this development only to racism and nationalism in German society. Racism and nationalism do serve as ideological kit to keep things ticking over and to legitimate provisions, but these cannot be seen as a cause of isolation. You can rather find the cause in the logic of this manufacturing, capitalistic society in which profit is only the purpose and human beings are only the medium of production. Exploitation of capitalism has priority – money goes to more money. Human beings are subordinated to the purpose of exploitation. Such a society produces necessarily unemployment, poverty and exclusion, then in fact only these people are of value who can contribute something to this exploitation. “Fortress Europe” is to be understood in this context because it is isolation of human beings, whose basis of existence get deprived of western capitalism. Capitalism produces social and political catastrophes all over the world and at the same time it has to isolate itself against the followed migration flows. Only skilled laborers are required, any one else get excluded.

In times of the crises, which meanwhile seems to be normality, the German radical left-wingers is looking clueless on this catastrophe, which is happening in the southern countries in Europe. To take just two examples: Mass unemployment and cuttings of social contribution destroy the Greek society and increase suicide rate and depressions among the Greeks enormously. In Germany identification with the nation seems to be of too big importance which makes a social movement, indicating transboundary, antinational solidarity, impossible. But instead, prejudices such as “the lazy Greek who is wasting hard-earned German money” spread. In this situation, the German radical left-wingers has a small maneuvering room. One option for us might be intervention in already existing fights and extension with criticism of the economic basis of society. We want to display this criticism and break the national consensus at least for a short period. We want to set this criticism against authoritative models of resolution for the crises in all its facets, austerity policy, Germany’s hegemony in Europe and separatist and ethnic movements in Germany. Because of this we would like to invite all of you to attend the demonstration for global freedom of movement and right of residence. But we also have to point out, we will only achieve these demands if we reorganize this society. That is the reason why we decided to mobilize with our own slogan and words.

We want to make use of present resources of natural product, supplies and human skills so that all human being can live a good, delightful life without a trace of poverty and starvation. We want to reorganize the production with all given technical capabilities of society, so that everyone of us has to work less without overwork hours and burn-out syndrome on the one hand or impoverishment caused by unemployment on the other hand. We aspire after a freed society, in which everyone can decide without any fear. We aspire after a cosmopolitical communism.
We call for attending the demonstration “the future is unwritten. Globale Bewegungsfreiheit ermöglichen – Kapitalismus überwinden / afford global freedom of movement – get over capitalism” on the 8th of June at 2pm to display radical left-wing criticism of society in Trier.
The demonstration will start in front of “Aufnahmereinrichtung für Asylbegehrende” in Dasbachstraße 19. Coming from Hauptbahnhof (main station), we recommend Bus 85 or 86 to Nell’s Park.
